
Opening Up Data: An Assessment of Open Data Availability in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has made significant progress in digitalisation; however, the next stages of development will depend on ensuring data openness and enhancing the quality of policymaking. A review of the country’s open data policy reveals that Kazakhstan lags behind leading countries such as the United Kingdom and Singapore in both the quantity and quality of publicly available data. The document offers recommendations for improving legislation, enhancing data quality, and introducing a data security index to strike a balance between openness and confidentiality.
