The Full-Format EAEU–Iran Free Trade Agreement: Implications for Kazakhstan

This analytical report assesses the impact of the Full-Format Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran on Kazakhstan. Despite the current low volume of mutual trade, the agreement opens new opportunities for the export of Kazakh grain and ferrous metals, while also reducing trade barriers. It enhances the predictability of Iran’s trade policy and contributes to the diversification of Kazakhstan’s export structure. At the same time, risks remain, particularly due to competition from Russia and the limited scope of the agreement, which excludes the services sector.
